COMPOSITES

Composite ideocalligraphs are made up of two or more radicals which, when brought together, establish a meaningful spatial relationship. They are presented in 4 groups, according to the shape of the primary radical (tall and broad; tall; wide; small). A further 5th group has composite ideocalligraphs incorporating one or more symbols.

A form of perspective often becomes evident within and between the composite brush strokes, enhancing meanings or implications. The same cluster, message or mandala written by two ideocalligraphers will always differ one from the other. Each pen’s brush strokes are laden with personal ideocalligraphic resonances. The time dimension may be implied by the ideocalligraphs chosen or more directly indicated by variants of the time ideocalligraph and tense or mood symbols.
