2.3 Ideocalligraphy - its character
Ideocalligraphy, the visible trace of wordless thoughts, reflecting the
ideocalligrapher's identity through his inner speech, is open to the inner
speech of the reader.
Ideocalligraphy asks to be read. And each ideocalligraphic hand has its own
signature, its own style. Although structured, the ideocalligraphy is at the
same time very flexible, allowing the ideocalligrapher the use of perspective,
scale changes, determinatives added to the composite ideocalligraphs, and the
blending of colour, time and space. It is a trans-cultural medium of
communication.
Ideocalligraphic messages, clusters and constelations, which can appear simple
at first glance, may in fact contain multiple levels of meaning. The more the
ideocalligraphs contain, the 'leaner' it sometimes appears to be. A little
patient visual curiosity can be rewarded with the discovery of deeper levels of
meaning.
