Helping an ideocalligraph beginner
Ideocalligraphy is a written visual language, allied to inner speech. Although
it can never be spoken or fittingly translated, its contents, once assimilated,
may well prompt comment or lively discussion. To help someone unfamiliar with
ideocalligraphs and yet interested in gathering in their meaning, the
ideocalligrapher should always be ready to offer a free 'translation' - pointing
out perhaps some of the allusions and inferences implied by the structure, time
dimension and meaning flow. He could even make a pencil or ball-point copy for
the inquirer to take away, giving him the chance to 'walk into it' and
re-interpret it, in his own time, undisturbed.
